The directorate of School Education of
Tamil Nadu circulated 25 guidelines to the Headmasters/Headmistress; to be
implemented in each school so as to protect the school children from the
possible on-coming dangers
PROTECTION FROM WATER, RAINS AND LIGHTENING:
The Headmaster/headmistress
should take imitative steps to cover all the
water Sources, such as wells, open-tanks,
and other garbage systems properly. When
such systems have been already covered, he/she should inspect regularly whether
those systems are properly covered or not.
Students are to be forbidden to get access to the water sources such as ponds,
wells or pools that exist outside the school campus in order to maintain safety. During their transport to schools, they
should be very careful while they come across Rain water Canals and if possible
they are advised to avoid opened rain water canals. All the students must be properly instructed
not to get asylum under the trees during the rainy days so as to avoid the
dangers of possible Lightening.
PROTECTION FROM ELECTROCUTION:
Students should be advised neither go near to
the damaged electrical posts nor stay near to it. They are to be advised also not to touch
cut-down electrical cables or wires or go near to such materials to enhance
their safety. The
Headmaster/Headmistress have been advised to confirm if all the electrical
connections and the electric circuit keys inside the school campus are in good condition. Students should not be permitted to operate
or handle the electrical systems by themselves in order to avoid possible electrical
accidents. Headmasters/Headmistress are
asked to inspect the presence of cut-down electrical cables or wires in the
eroded buildings, class room walls, Science laboratories, and computer laboratories. If it is found out, they are required to
repair it immediately.
PROTECTION FROM ACCIDENTS:
PROTECTION DURING TRANSPORT:
The Headmasters/Headmistress should advise
the students about the possible
dangers of travelling in the bus footsteps and
it should be stopped. If the school is
located near the road ways, it is the duty of the headmasters/headmistress to
see whether proper speed breakers are constructed or not. If there is no speed breaker, the
headmaster/headmistress should take proper initiative for the construction of
speed breakers. The
headmaster/headmistress should make clear room for the students to cross the
school near-by roads safely. In this
connection the Headmaster/headmistress should nominate a
responsible teacher for daily supervision.
Above all, the headmasters/headmistress are advised to check keenly
whether all the students have been got out of the classrooms in the evening
before closing the class rooms.
N.B. It is a positive direction from the
directorate of School Education. There
are sensible head of the institutions, who are following most of the above
direction.
