Anna University declared that General
Academic Counselling for admission to various Engineering Colleges in Tamil
Nadu will be commenced on JUNE 27.
Number of candidates: As many as 1.73 lakh applications were
submitted and out of this 1.68 lakh candidates applied for academic counselling
whereas 5,000 candidates applied for the vocational courses.
First Graduates: This year more than 92,000 applicants are
from first graduates and the State Government reiterated its commitment of
paying Tuition fee for them
Random Number: The random numbers are generated and it plays
an important role when there is a tie between two candidates with regard to
their cut-off marks and date of birth.
If they are tied again, the candidate with the highest random number is
given preference.
Single window counselling process: Anna University follows single window
counselling process in order to ensure Transparency.
Rules followed during the selection: If two candidates have the same aggregate
marks, the candidate who scored higher in Math’s will be ranked above. If both candidates have scored the same marks
inMahesh, then the candidate who scored higher in Physics will be ranked
higher. If the Maths, and Physics marjs
are same, then the Chemistry marks is considered. If the Maths, Physics, and Chemistry marks
are same, then the fourth optional abject would break the tie. If the Maths, P) physics, Chemistry, and the
fourth optional subject marks are also same, then the candidate’s Date of Birth
will be considered.The Elder one gets the benefit of being ranked above. If the date of birth is also same, then the
10digit random number given to each candidate decides the ranking. The candidate with the highest random number
will be given preference.
Counselling Call letters: It contains the date and the time of
counselling for a particular candidate.
The counselling date will be published on the TNEA Website during the publication
of ranks. The candidate also find it in
the leading dailies. As usual this year
also boys dominate for the Engineering studies
